About 5000 participants will take part in the fourth edition of the Nile Special Open Pool Championship which starts tomorrow in Nakawa Region at the venues scheduled below. According to Micheal Mawanda, the Pool Association of Uganda Publicity secretary, the number has surged from the 3000 they registered last year.
“The number has increased and even the venues are now more compared to last year” he told Kawowo Sports. This year’s tourney will have close to 60 venues and each winner will have a shs.100, 000 cash plaque. All runners-ups at the 60 venues will also have shs. 50,000 prize.
Each top duet from the venues will qualify for the grande final set to be held at Lugogo Indoor Stadium on August 25. All the playing centers have registered the maximum number of entrants, that’s 32 each. This means 160 players will get underway on the opening weekend. 25 umpires will ensure the tournament is well managed.
