Uganda’s ladies golf team is breathing with alot of confidence ahead of the All-Africa Golf challenge due in Gabarone,Botswana from June 6-7 according to the Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Rose Azuba Musoke.
“We are confident of this team that is going for the challenge and we strongly believe that we can finish inside the top five once again,” Musoke stressed while receiving the national flag from the the AAGC trustee for East Africa Monica Ntege at Uganda Golf Club, Kitante
this morning. “This team has been consistent and we believe if we start well we can maintain our momentum.”
Uganda’s side is made up of lady golfer of the year Flavia Namakula,Jaspher Kamukama and Eva Magala. Uganda’s best position in this prestigious all ladies golf tournament was third position in 2000 when the country was the host.
Last year Uganda finished fifth out of 18 nations this year they will have to battle 20 nations to finish in a highly respectable position.
Uganda’s team will remain back to take part in the Bostwana Ladies Open that runs from June 8-10 at the Pakalane Golf Estate.
“I am looking forward to the tournament and just ready to play the course with no pressure,” Flavia Namakula the country’s top lady golfer said. “It is important for me and my team-mates to start well cause that can determine how we shall finish and I am confident of returning with good scores.”
The Uganda Ladies Golf Union has raised funds for the team through a fundraising tournament with their support coming from Nyumbani Decor,Sadolin,Nile Breweries,Pepsi,Kenya Airways,Standard Chartered Bank and several other leading corporate companies.
