Forty schools geared for National Juniors Volleyball Championship

Over 40 secondary teams from all over the nation will rub shoulders at this year’s fourth edition of the National Juniors Volleyball Championship due to take place at London College of St Lawrence due this weekend.  Uganda’s emerging volleyball stars will showcase their talent in the two-day tournament especially the big teams such as Nabisunsa and Namagunga Girls’ schools.

Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) Schools Chairman Edgar Karungi has warned that schools that field mercenaries shall be disqualified from the tournament and that the requirement to field only two foreign players will be enforced. This regulation was introduced a few years ago to ensure more exposure opportunities for Ugandan kids. This edition is expected to be very competitive with the growing competition especially from Western schools in the girls’ category.  Maryhill won the All Girls Championship held in March at Gayaza High School and St Brighet Insingiro SS taking bronze.
