Lots of Ugandan who stayed back home had to go through a lot to monitor the developments between Uganda and their host, but all were successful. The Cranes conceded as early as seven minutes and the Scot is convinced the goal by Djalma shouldn’t have stood.
“I wasn’t sure we would concede an early goal because we didn’t plan for it. But I think it shouldn’t have stood, after they took a quick throw in a wrong place and capitalized,” said Williamson. “If the referee and officials had done their job that goal wouldn’t have been allowed,” he added.
The Cranes had to wait till the 87th minute when a long ball from Mwesigwa found Mutumba who switched down right to Moses Oloya. His cross blocked only for the advancing Emmanuel Okwi to slot the ball home after the Palancas Negras has tried to put their bodies behind the ball for along spells.
Moving forward
Uganda has also scored goals away from home in the last three competitive games and Bobby insists grabbing goals has never been an issue for the Cranes. “Scoring has never been part of our problems but it’s good to score away from home especially in a World cup of Afcon qualifier,” he said.
The Senegalese game is no different from the other games the cranes are going to play or have played before especially now that players are in the right set of mind.
“We will approach Senegal the when we have approached other games. My players are prepared physically and mentally so nothing should hold us back.”
