Elgon Warriors 5 England Counties 39

Beating touring side, the England Counties was going to be an uphill task for select side, Elgon Warriors and will all the vaunting that captain, Alex Mubru had showed, it was always going to be tough.

The visitors took an early 3-0 lead before Benon Kiiza touched down. But the Counties recovered before recess with penalty and headed

to the changing rooms with a slim 6-5 lead. Had Anthony Kinene made the conversion, it would be Warriors in the lead.

Second half saw a dominant Counties’ side wash away the paint of many occasions.

Billy Johnson and Wil Chesters kept winger, Justin Kimono busy and within 70 minutes, the score read 32-5. Coach Ham Osando took tactical decisions that didnot better the performance.

On so many stages, Warriors failed to the Counties’ play and unnecessary fambling gave the latter better displays.

Rory Teague who kicked in almost everything took the man-of-match honour.

The two sides meet again next Saturday at the RFUEA grounds, Nairobi as the Warriors seek revenge.
