Many fans and onlookers think the Uganda national soccer team, the Cranes will automatically head for the 2013 AFCON if they leap frog Congo Brazaville at Mandela National Stadium on Saturday but that’s not the case.
First of all, Uganda must poise a 2-0 or a three goal marginal win if they are to go past this qualifier stage.
If the result on Saturday falls on either of the above opyions, Cranes qualify to get into a draw that will get them an opponent from one of the 16 sides that took part in this year’s edition in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
There will have to be two games played on home and away basis. The winner over both will book a place in next year’s AFCON in South Africa.
Uganda Cranes, the CECAFA record winners have only participated five times and they last took part in 1978. That year, they were beaten by hosts Ghana 2-0 in the final.
