
True Vine, a side from Tororo district emerged winners of the fourth City Tyres Chenga Challenge Regional Championships which were held at the Mbale SS ground over the weekend.
Although Mbale Tigers had topped the log on seven, True Vine petitioned the organizers in writing accompanied by a fee of Ug.Shs.50.000 against Tigers for fielding ineligible players in names of Andrew Amubhai and Phillip Pius Alleu.
The Technical Committee and the jury sat and looked into the matter and after interrogating both players and officials and depending on the overwhelming evidence against Mbale Tigers, Mbale Tigers lost 6 points from the first two matches they played thus giving an upper hand to True Vine to lead the table and being declared champions.
Reports indicate Red Stars from Soroti played with 12 players as 6 players were disqualified as they didn’t meet the requirements, i.e. players were over aged.
The event heads to Kabale will host the fifth City Tyres Chenga Challenge Regional Championship this Saturday.
City Tyres Chenga Challenge Championships are organized by the Friends of Football – FOF.
