Uganda’s top squash players Michael Kawooya and Ian Kajubu have set their eyes on claiming honours in the Saint Lucia Squash Open slated for June 25-30 in Saint Lucia.

 The players who have been training ahead of making their debut on the international scene where optomistic ahead of their trip to the Island nation.

“I am looking forward to the tournament as we look to sharpen and get exposure internationally,” Micha Kawooya, Uganda’s top seed told Kawowo sports. “We believe that this can give us an opportunity to

land more international invities our main game is to go their and play some good squash.”

The two players have been undergoing training at Kampala Club under the supervision of national squash coach Simon Kajubu.

The team recently land a airticket to travel for the tournament and they are now looking for a second one to enable travel for the tournament.

The local squash governing body Uganda Squash Rackets Association had earmarked a budget of $7,139 dollars to see them successful take part in the event. 

 The two youth players are the finest players for the country and have both taken part at the Commonwealth games in India in 2010. Kawooya is Uganda’s number one player while Kajubu, is the country’s seed two. The invitation was sent to the Uganda Squash Rackets Association by the Saint Lucia Squash Association president Cheryl Renwick.
