
Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) General Secretary has confirmed that this year’s cecafa club championships will be held between 14th July and 28th July in Dar Salam, Tanzania. The tournament will attract all league champions in the region and a few from Cosafa are also asking to be part of the competition this year. According to Musonye an undisclosed Zimbabwean clun has already shown interest in participating in the Dar Salam edition. Defending champions Yanga FC and giants Simba SC will represent host nation Tanzania in the competition while Uganda will be represented by 2011 league champions URA FC. Musonye also confirmed that Cecafa’s partners and sponsors are still board with Africa’s giant sports Television channel Supersport confirming the games will be shown live on T.V. Besides, Rwanda’s president and sports phiranthropist Paul Kagame also confirming that he will offer $ 60,000 as prize money for the competitions something he has done for the last couple of years. Ugandan clubs have only managed to win the crown five times with KCC – 1978, SC Villa – 1987, 2003 & 2005 plus Police FC in 2006.
