Orient Bank and Nile breweries through their beer brand Castle Lite sealed a shs.25 million sponsorship deal with the Uganda Ladies’ Golf Union (UGLU) towards the organization of the Lady President’s Shield tournament set to take place at Palm Valley Golf and Country Club in Kakungulu
Estate, Entebbe this Saturday.
At the press briefing held at Sheraton Gardens, Orient Bank’s Director Finance and Corporate Mr. Bernard Magulu said investing in sports is investing in the country’s image.
“The main reason for this sponsorship is responsibility and giving back to the golf fraternity, many of which are our customers” said Magulu. Rose Musoke, the UGLU outgoing head was delighted and excited on the new deal.
“I applaud the sponsors,” she said. “This money will help us meet most of our needs in organising this tourney” she added.
The shs.15m and shs.10m from the sponsors in turn are timely boost after the All Africa Golf Challenge Trophy has drained shs.32million from the body just two weeks ago.
The Lady Shield Tournament is a celebratory event that marks the end of the tenure of a lady president and it will be preceded by the ULGU AGM tomorrow, where a new head will be elected.
