Current male top sprinter Ali Ngaimoko and Maptuo All Africa 800m gold medalist will lead the 12-man team that heads to Porto Novo, Benin for the Africa Senior Athletics.
The team was flagged off by Ministry of Education and Sports official Sam Odong yesterday at the Makerere grounds, just after a successful National Athletics Championships tourney.
At the event, Ngaimoko won the 200m in 21.3. He will run 400m as he aims to get a wild card to next month’s London Olympics.
Ngaimoko has often done his best in the past UAF trials but he still fell short of the required standards.
Meanwhile, Moses Ndoema Kipsiro will be a huge prospect. The Commonwealth Games double gold medalist will run 5000m and 10000m in Benin.
Kipsiro is Uganda’s hot property for London. He missed bronze in Beijing four years ago and he attained that podium finish, it would have earned the country the seventh Olympic medal in history.
Negesa, USPA’s reigning female athlete of the year will hope for nothing except gold in the 800m.
