Confidence levels will be the key weapon for Ugandan athlete Jacob Araptany at the Africa Senior Championships in Porto Novo, Benin due this week.
Araptany, last year’s revelation of the country’s athletics is optimistic that he will run the quickest time in the 3000m steeplechase at the continental meet.
“I am ready for the battle,” he said.
“I hope to be in the right shape and perform my best” Araptany added.
Araptany, is one of the country’s athletes who are preparing to take part in the London Olympics next month.
Born on February 11, 1992, he led but ran out of steam at the last moment in the 3000m steeplechase at the 13th IAAF World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
He finished sixth, losing top spot to Kenyan Ezekiel Kemboi.
Araptany finished seventh after running his personal best, 8:14.48 at the Rome Samsung Diamond League Meet last month.
