Record league champions SC Villa has hinted at bringing five new faces at Villa Park in the forthcoming transfer window. Speaking to Kawowo sports, club director of football Joseph Kanaba said that the blues target five players and is ready to release players too.
“We plan to bring five new players in this window. Three of them will be experienced while the two will be young players”, said Kanaba adding that the club is also set to release a few players. The transfer window opens Monday, 2nd July and ends on 23rd September according to the Fufa calender. On releasing players, Kanaba said, “We are set to release players whose contracts have expired but only those that are less committed and above the age of 25 years”. At the beginning of last season, Villa invested in over 11 players but the said acquisitions could only help the side to fifth position on the table. To make matters worse, many have since left the club after being seen as surplus to requirements at the club. Ronald Musana, Fred Muhumuzza, and Terry Etumba left the club while Patrick Ssenfuka (injury), Ochan Benjamin and Noah Ssemakula (on and off) have not performed as per their transfer fees. Kanaba didn’t disclose the club’s targets but the club is already linked to Bunamwaya SC William Luwagga Kizito and URA FC’s Allan Owiny. Reports from the club also indicate that midfielder Patrick Ssenfuka will be released after steering controversy at the club while out of contract exciting midfielder Eurukana Nkugwa who dissapeared for most of last season is already linked with a move to URA FC.
