From the time William Blick took over leadership of the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC), there has proved to be improved sanity as Team Uganda prepares for the London Summer Olympic Games, less than a month away.
When Uganda took part in the All Africa Games in Maputo last year, the contingent struggled to have outfits.
Blick has assured that they are in touch with logistics company, Puma to avail the London team with kits.
“I will see to it personally that each athlete gets his or her kit.” Blick said during the weekly Press conference at the UOC Head office on Sir Hesketh Bell Avenue in Lugogo.
He said “the entire Team Uganda athletes will go to Kabale on a date to be announced to have a greater take of oxygen during their final preparations” he added.
The UOC leader also confirmed the subsidized rates from British Airways Tickets that offset the financial burden.
He is optimistic more sponsorship and partnerships would come along in the next few days. British Airways who will cater for the team flights have already injected £21000 (USh52.5m) and UMEME added for funding of about Shs21m for the preparations.
In the meantime, Kenyan born Dr. James Osawo from the World Anti-Doping Agency has already performed random tests on some members of Team Uganda as well as training selected sports medical officers at the Grand Imperial Hotel.
