Local body Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) will send out a team of five athletes and head coach George Palanda to the 14th World Junior Athletics Championships in Barcelona.
The team led by Palanda will jet out of the country on Sunday with a mission to return medals home.

UAF would have loved to send a team of nine but

owing to financial constraints, four other athletes will miss the games.

With over 180 countries expected to take part, Palanda is positive the five will bring remarkable results home.
“I have high hopes in these young athletes”
In the past edition held in Moncton two years ago, Uganda finished 36th after picking only two bronze just like the hosts Canada.
Nancy Cheptengei (3000m steeplechase)
Moses Kurong (5000m)
Winnie Nanyondo (800m, 1500m)
Halima Nakaayi (400m, 800m)
Phillip Kipyego (3000m)
