The 14th IAAF World Junior Athletics Championships head into day three tomorrow at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain. Ugandan runner Winnie Nanyondo will compete in the final of the 800m as she seeks to win her maiden international medal on her first global challenge. Nanyondo ran a new personal best of 2:02.38, finishing second behind Great Britain Jessica Judd.

While fellow countrymate Halima Nakaayi is out after clocking 2:04.91 to claim fourth position in another heat, Nanyondo can replicate Annet Negesa’s finish in the past edition. Negesa won bronze in the same race two years ago in Moncton, Canada. Her feat and Jacob Araptany’s third place finish earned Uganda 34th position, same as the hosts.

Last night, Moses Martin Kurong finished fifth in 10000m after posting 29:06.87. The race was won by Ethiopian Yigrem Demelash in 28:16.07. In the 3000m, Nancy Cheptengei didnot start.
