Rugby Cranes just a step away from 2007 glory

Coach Yayiro Kasasa showed that he didnot miss his assistants who, owing to financial constraints, failed to travel to Jemmel, Tunisia. The Rugby Cranes eliminated titleholders Kenya Lions 21-19 on Tuesday night to earn automatic qualification to the 2015 IRB World Cup qualifiers.

Two tries from Scott Olouch and Brian Odongo, a conversion and two penalties from scrumhalf Anthony Kinene counted but Benon Kiiza’s last penalty kick sent Uganda to the final. They will face Zimbabwe as they seek to earn a feat they earned in 2007. The Rugby Cranes defeated Madagascar 42-11 in Antananarivo.

Zimbabwe ejected the hosts 30-14 in the other semifinal of the Confederation of Africa Rugby 1A tier. Back in April, the Cranes still edged out the Lions 19-16 over two legs at Kyadondo and RFUEA grounds. You reckon an exciting final on Saturday in Jemmel.
