London Olympics hopeful Moses Ndiema Kipsiro, alongside fellow Ugandan Moses Kibet will run in the 5000m of the London Samsung Diamond League Meet tonight.
Kipsiro, the Maputo All Africa gold medalist will use the race to acclimatize with the weather in London ahead of the XXX Olympiad due July 27-August 12. The duo will compete against 12 other athletes with Great Britain’s Mo Farah in the fray.
Kipsiro, the national record holder recently opted out of the 18th Africa Senior Athletics Championships in Porto Novo, Benin just after running in Birmingham last month.
At the last edition of the world’s biggest games in 2008 at the Bird’s Nest Stadium, Beijing, Kipsiro is the only Ugandan who came close to the podium. He finished fourth in 13:10.56 and was stunned by Kenyan Edwin Cheruyiot Soi who settled for bronze in a race that was dominated by the Bekele brothers (Tariku and Kennenisa).
