Zambia rally ace Mohammed Essa arrived in Kampala from Lusaka this week with an aim to finish the Africa Rally Championship crown. And indeed, he met his goal. Essa led from day one to win the 644.89 km race in 2:38:10. It was his second race in Uganda 2009 when the late Riyaz Kurji died. “I am happy to be the new Africa Rally winner” Essa said.
“We had a problem with our brakes on day two but we managed to overcome the problem” Essa told Kawowo Sports. The event was the fifth round of this year’s Africa Rally Championship.
