The Uganda Super League has been ranked 88th in the world and 15th in Africa according the July International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFHHS). The ranking is based on the level of performance of the league which is reflected by the best classified teams of the league which in turn represent their countries in the international competitions.

To establish a fair classification, points won in all competitions by the top five teams of the league are added.

The low ranking of the USL is perhaps due to the fact that Uganda’s representatives in Orange CAF competitions didn’t perform well. URA FC was eliminated by Mali’s Djoliba FC in the second round while Simba SC failed to represent the country in the CAF Cup.

The USL is the best placed league in East Africa with Tanzania’s and Kenya’s league ranked 18th and 22nd on the continent.

The Nigerian premier league is the best ranked in Africa and 24th in the world followed by Tunisia and Ghana which are ranked 31st and 38th in Africa.

The Spanish La liga tops the world rankings with 761 points followed by Argentina’s league and Brazilian league on 613 and 590 points respectively. The much hyped English Barclays Premier League is ranked 4th on 470 points.
