Six men and women led by reigning Uspa female woodballer Lillian Zawedde and Ndejje University’s Jerry Wabuyu will represent Uganda at the fifth edition of the woodball world cup due August 26 – September 3 in Malacca, Malaysia.
The final team will be sieved from the squad of 20 that was selected on merit basing on the three competitive events this year (first and second beach circuits and the Kyambogo Open).
It will be the first time Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) will be sending a full team to the games but all will need to dig deep into their pockets.
“We need about 31920 US dollars for the team accommodation” UWbF administrator, John Baptist Kateregga said. Onesmus Atamba was the only country’s representative at the fourth edition in Bangkok, Thailand two years ago.
The body will also need to remit about 25000 US dollars for another 12 players who head to Mongolia for the second edition of the Erdos International Nadam Woodball Festival in the same time.
