Ugandan sides Mbale Tigers and the A side emerged triumphant in the Thika Table tennis tournament in Nairobi, Kenya and walked away with Shs.2m.
The tourney that had attracted two Ugandan sides, the other being Fotogenix had group games which were packed with tension.
Tigers (Ronald Nyaika, Gilton Chelibe, Eddie Omongole, Ivan Wamusi) beat the eventual runners up of the tournament Nairobi Stars (Anthony Mathenge, Biruk Bekele, John Odhiambo, Cosmos Onyango, Allan Kiprotich) 3-1 to top the group a match which also saw coach Ronnie Andira being red carded for excessive cheering.
On the other side, Fotogenix (Paul Mutambuze, Kevin Mafabi, Edward Kiwanuka and Otti Solomon) set up a date with the Nairobi Stars in the other semi Final a match that the Nairobi Stars overcame at the home lap winning it 3-2 to set up a mouthwatering Final with the Mbale Tigers.
The Final between Mbale Tigers and the Nairobi Stars was a match not for the faint hearted but brave hearts willing to match onto victory no matter.
