London 2012 Olympics: Weightlifter Ssekyaaya drops out

Ugandan weightlifter Charles Ssekyaaya finished sixth in the men’s 62kg Snatch, Clean & Jerk Weightlifting category at the ExCeL Centre. Ssekyaaya, one of the seven in Group B finished sixth having scored 105 in the second snatch attempt and a 130 in the first clean and jerk. “That was my competition and that’s how I did, I’m glad I made a total” Ssekyaaya told Kawowo Sports.
It was Indonesian Mohammad Habasi who poised a total of 301 beating Egyptian Saad Ahmed. Ssekyaaya’s coach was present after having arrived in the wee hours of today morning. The 20 year old had almost given up on taking part at the XXX Olympiad but his feat at the Africa Olympic Qualifying Weightlifting Championship at the Charter Hall in Nairobi earned him a late wild card from the International Weightlifting Federation.
