villa recruits

Record league champions SC Villa has announced that it won’t renew contracts of three of its players. The players in question are defenders Phillip Gasana, Apollo Kakaire and Robert Kabanda.

This was confirmed to Kawowo sports by the Club’s football director Joseph Kanaba.

“We have decided not to renew contracts of Phillip Gasana, Apollo Kakaire and Robert Kabanda for footballing reasons. We thank them for the time they have served the club and wish them the best in their future careers”, Kanaba told Kawowo sports.

This comes as no surprise after the club recently announced that it won’t renew contracts of those players who are above the age of 25 and yet not performing at top level as required by the club.

The trio spent most of last season on the side lines due to injuries and missed most of the second round of the season. Kabanda and Kakaire made no appearance in the second half of the season while Gasana was on and off.
The trio joins winger Muwadda Mawejje who opted not to renew his contract at the club with rumour indicating that he will play his trade with Jinja based Victors FC next season and the duo of Lawrence Kasadha and Noah Ssemakula who has joined Victoria University to bring the number of players out of SC Villa in this window to six. The club is yet to announce any new signing but is closing in on Police FC midfielder Arthur Semazzi and Utoda FC’s Allan Kizza.
