2011/12 League champions Express FC are in search for a new Coach to replace Sam Ssimbwa who crossed over to money bags SC Victoria University. The former Masaka LC, Mbale Heroes and KCC FC tactician who is set to be officially unveiled today at the newly promoted University side has left a void at the Wankulukuku based side which management feels must be filled before the start of the new season.
Kawowo sports can exclusively reveal that among those on the list to replace Ssimbwa are Coaches Robert Kabuye and Matia Lule. As of now, former assistant to Ssimbwa Wasswa Bbosa is the acting head Coach of the team.
Coach Robert Kabuye is European trained and was the Kakungulu cup winning tactician with KCC FC in 2004 before he left for further training in England while Matia Lule was at the helm KCC FC at the beginning of last season before he was informally sacked by club management through a suspension for poor performance. He also has a coaching stint at Wankulukuku before crossing to Lugogo.
The champions have not only lost a coach in this window but have also lost top players in Julius Ogwang who moved to KCC FC, the duo of striker Erisha Ssekisambu and midfielder Yayo Lutimba who left the club for URA FC. There is also a rumour linking exciting midfielder Bonny Baingana to Rwanda’s APR FC and Hashim Ssempala away from the club though his destination is yet to be revealed.
Despite the departures, the club has not made any signing to beef up the squad but like they did last season, impeccable sources indicate that the club won’t be going for high profile players but turn to regional and Masaza Cup competition for players.
