Fixtures:
MUK Sparks Vs A1 Challenge 6:30pm
Dmark Power Vs Kyambogo Warriors 8:30
Phase two of the most anticipated league fixture of the regular season, in local basketball is on this evening at YMCA as league giants, Dmark Power and Kyambogo Warriors face off in the second leg of the Airtel National Basketball League.
The two teams were first to play in the rebranded league earlier in the season, and Power (10-3) got a 71-68 come-from-behind victory over Warriors. Power’s guards, Ben Komakech and Jimmy Enabu, dominated proceedings on the night as center, Michael Kariuki’s ineffectiveness on the foul line cost Warriors the game.
Both teams go into this game off big wins though Power played a relatively stronger opponent. Warriors beat down on Rez Life 101-55 as Sam Gombya and Michael Karuiki took charge with double-doubles and point guard Ivan Enabu was on the bench all through in the second game after return from an injury that kept him out for a while. On the other hand, Power beat Ndejje 90-64 as the defending champions looked complete and stable with Joseph Ikong back on the team and big man Isaac Afidra looking like the true self with a double-double in that game.
Literally, there is no difference in terms of personnel and match up should not be a problem to any of the teams but when you play Power, you have to defend your inside very well and force them into outside contested shots as well as defending the fast breaks to have a chance.
The game comes two weeks before the regional Zone V championships in which both teams will take part later this month. A win for Power takes them with in 1 point of Warriors which will make the game even more thrilling. “Expect an interesting game from power”, Ikong told Kawowo Sports
