London Olympics: Inzikuru does best but faces exit

Ugandan steeplechaser Dorcus Inzikuru became the sixth of the 15 athletes to bow out of the London Olympics. The 2005 Helsinki World Athletics Championships gold medalist battled and finished seventh in a time of 8:35.29 in heat three of the water jump race. The Arua Gazelle started in full fledge but kept losing grip of the five-man leading pack in the last 1000m.

From the look of things, Inzikuru looked to have been worn out. It was her second time at the Olympics but all have turned out to be dissapointing. In Athens eight years ago, she was 24th overall in the women’s 5000m. Her heat was won by Ethiopian Hiwot Ayalew in 9:24.01.
