Moses kipsiro

Despite finishing tenth in the 10000m final on Saturday, Moses Kipsiro is still Uganda’s biggest hope at the London Olympics.

The Commonwealth double gold medalist made the men’s 5000m final due Saturday evening after clocking 13:17.68 in heat 2 of the 12 and a half lap race.

After taking control of the race in the last 1000m, Kipsiro missed a kicker finishing behind 10000m silver winner USA’s Rupp Galen.

Ethiopian pair Dejen Gebremeskel and Yenew Alamirew crossed the finish line first in 13:15.15 and 13:15.39.

Bernard Lagat, a silver medalist at the 2009 Berlin World Athletics Championships took fourth, ahead of Kenyan Thomas Longosiwa.
