If Ugandans are to have memories of this year’s London Olympics, then Moses Kipsiro’s disappointment at the Games will be one of them. The 2010 Commonwealth double gold medalist, Uganda’s top medal prospect will have the XXX Olympiad to hurt forever. After finishing tenth in 10000m final, the 2007 All Africa Games gold medalist ran a disappointing 15th position, finishing last in the men’s 5000m final in a time of 13:52.25.
Whereas many Ugandans kept fingers crossed, the expectations of the 35million people back home over weighed the 2011 Maputo All Africa Games gold medalist. He did his best. Thank you Kipsiro!
Somali born Mo Farah has become the first British man to hold the 5,000m and 10,000m Olympic titles after winning gold in the shorter event on Saturday night. Farah followed up on the 10,000m title he won at the London 2012 Olympic Stadium seven days ago with a supremely calculated performance; the 29-year-old holding back in a race that started slowly before taking the lead with two laps to go and kicking on to finish in a time of 13min 41.66 sec.
Farah was pushed hard in the home straight by Ethiopa’s Dejen Gebremeskel, who took the silver medal in 13:41.98, but held on to claim the Olympic tile over a distance in which he is already the world champion.
MEN’S 5000M FINAL RESULTS

3. Thomas Pkemei Longosiwa 13:42.36
4. Bernard Lagat 13:42.99
15. Moses Ndiema Kipsiro 13:52.25.
