National Insurance Cooperation (NIC) registered a hard-fought win against arch rivals Prisons in the National Netball League with a small margin of only 4 goals which sank down the defending champions.
The win ensured NIC extended their lead at the top with four points relative to the second-placed Prisons, though the latter have a game in hand.
NIC’s duo of forwards Hadijja Nakabuye and Rachael Nannyonga stood tall in this encounter and they did have good coordination which terrorized the defense of Prisons.
This top of the table clash presented an awesome contest that in the first quarter Prisons led 12- 11. But after dominating the first quarter, Prisons found themselves chasing after NIC for the rest of the match. After inspired positional switches, whole-hearted defense and exceptional play from shooters Hadijja Nakabuye and Rachael Nanyonga, NIC were back in control and they tool the second quarter 23-25.
With NIC maintained their rhythm as well in the third quarter, Prisons found themselves down with a five goal deficit at 40-35 score line. With further perfect displays from Hadija Nakabuye NIC seemed unstoppable, though solo performance from Prisons attacker Tarbia tried to make amends, all hope was sealed. In fact Prisons should have a suffered a much more embarrassing defeat hadn’t been because of some better displays from goal keeper Florence Nannyonga and defender Agio.
Else where Police Netball club registered 43-31 against Posta with Christine Lamunu taking the leading though she was substituted in the third quarter with Edina Abalo who proved lethal by netting 8 goals and 1 penalty to improve Police’s Tally.
In the other match of the day, KCCA dominated Blue star beating them 52-29.
