
Uganda will be vying for nominations at the World FICTS sports film festival in Milan and Beijing later this year after one of the country’s entries was selected among the winners at the sixth edition of the Kampala edition.
Richard Lukwago, a freelance sports journalist was a winner with his entry of cycling in the Sports news reportage section.
He was a winner among the five enteries in the six categories at this year’s sixth edition of the Kampala Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs(FICTS).
Other catergories that where winners included Soccer for peace by Gilbert Pangu and Christian Sango from DR Congo in the sports and society category.
In the documentary category Deadliest Crash Le Mans 1955 Disaster by John Matthews from UK was the winner in this section.
Never Say, Never Again by Mary Mahlalela from South Africa was the winner in the OIympic Spirit. While Keep
tranining by Ben Onyango and MacDusman Ociti won the TV Show category.
This year their was no entry for the sports and adverts section.
This year the world sports film festival body will be celebrating 30 years of existence and will be hold two grand finals in the city of Beijing,China and Milan in November and December respectively.
This year’s Kampala edition has seen entries from DR Congo,(1),South Africa(2) ,Kenya(1),Rwanda(3),hosts Uganda(12), while the rest of the world has sent 31.
