Proline Soccer Academy commenced pre-season Tuesday morning ahead of the upcoming 2012/13 season.
Under the guidance of club director Mujib Kasule, the players converged at the usual training ground at East Kololo Primary school for the opening session. Kasule stood in for the technical team that include Abdallah Mubiru, Shafik Bisaso and Frank Mugerwa who are still attending a CAF Coaches training event at Mandela stadium Namboole.
The players that attended the first training included team skipper Ausi Kaya, Julius Okocha,
Anthony Bongole, Charles Lukwago, Ismail Kambugu and Davis Senkubyala.
Others are new signings Joseph Mandela and Fred Kayanja who got promotion from the academy.
The U-20 contingent of Gift Ali, Isaac Owori, Yusuf Mukisa, William Wadri Kadogo and Simon Namwanja who were busy for the past one month with the Hippos were absent since the club allowed them an extended one week break and are likely to re-join the squad next Monday.
Meanwhile Mujib Kasule revealed to the club’s official website that they are likely to reinforce the squad with may be four or five players.
“We are mostly looking at the defensive department because that is where we seem to be lacking in numbers, not strength. We are also looking at bring in a new goalkeeper”, he said.
It should be noted that Proline FC lost its first choice custodian Yasin Mugabi to URA FC leaving the club vulnerable in that area.
The club finished sixth on the Bell super league log last season.
