
New super league boys SC Victoria University unveiled 11 new signings on Wednesday morning at Victoria Hall, Sheraton hotel ahead of the upcoming 2012/13 season.
Speaking to the media about the new acquisitions, Mr Simo Dubajic the managing director of the club said;
“Most of these of players have touched the limits of their previous clubs and now deserve an opportunity
to grow technically, mentally and professionally”.
“Sports Club Victoria University will avail these growth opportunities”, he added.
The new signings include a goal keeper, three defenders, six midfielders and a striker. These are custodian Ali Kimera signed from Victors FC, defender Martin Mpuga and striker George Abege (Maroons FC), Joseph Nestroy Kizito (Partizan Belgrade, Serbia) and Lawrence Kasadha (SC Villa). The midfielders include former URA FC captain Manko Kawesa, Sadam Ibrahim Juma (Sai Gon Xuan Thanh, Vietnam), William Nakibinge (Express FC), Rwanda’s U-20 international winger Charles Tibingana (Proline FC), Noah Ssemakula (SC Villa), Nigerian import Victor Olua Idika plus centre forward George Opiyo Abege from Maroons FC.
Meanwhile, all the new boys were given their official jersey numbers for next season with Ali Kimera (1), Martin Mpuga (19), George Abege (8), Manko Kawesa (4), Sadam Juma (15), William Nakibinge (24), Charles Tibingana (25), Lawrence Kasadha (2), Noah Ssemakula (20), Victor Olua Idika (18) and Joseph Nestroy Kizito (3).
The ceremony was also used to announce a new technical team and structure for the next season. The team will include Serbian Ivan Zoric (Head Coach/Team Manager), former Express FC Coach Sam Ssimbwa (First team Coach), Steven Bogere (Assistant Coach), Abdu Kigenyi (Goalkeepers Coach), Dr. John Fomum Ssentamu (Team Doctor) and Ivan Ssewanyana (team Physio). The club also promised to announce a fitness coach/nutritionist in the next few weeks.
According to Dubajic, the club’s target in the league next season is to finish in the top eight and then steadily progress with in the next 2-3 years.
The club has also announced it has officially ended its transfer dealings for the window thus released their squad for the season.
