FC Ingolstadt 0-1 Red Bull Salzburg
Austian Bundesliga champions Red Bull Salzburg edged hosts German Bundesliga second division side FC Ingolstadt 1-0 in a friendly played yesterday at the Sportpark Aschheim. Jonathan Soriano’s strike on 43 minutes from 12 yards past goalie Sascha Kirschstein after a foul earned the visitors, the former Uganda Cranes’ skipper Ibrahim Sekagya’s side the victory on the night.
The defender who led the Bulls to a double last season played only 45 minutes of the game. Searing temperatures of well over 30 degrees contributed to a sedate first half, and German Bundesliga referee Dr. Felix Brych had to stop the play several times for drinks breaks at the home stadium of Bayern Munich women’s team.
“Despite the hard training sessions this morning there were lots of good points today. And even though the result isn’t the most important thing, I am pleased that we won. The friendly was also important to keep some squad players match fit.” Coach Roger Schmidt told the club’s official website.
