KPL: Dan Sserunkuma brace salvages a point for Gor Mahia

Former Express FC and Victors FC forward Daniel “Mzee” Sserunkuma was the hero for Gor Mahia after he scored two goals to help his side hold Mathare United to a 2-2 draw in a Kenyan Premier League game played at Nyayo stadium on Friday evening.

The diminutive striker struck in the 38th and the 71st minute cancelling out Francis Ouma and Andrew Tololwa 16th and 26th strikes respectively.

Mathare began the game on a serious note and their endless attacks resulted into an early lead when Francis Ouma when he netted in the 16th minute before Andrew Tololwa doubled Mathare’s lead in the 26th minute.

At 2-0, Mathare looked a safe bet to walk away with all three precious points but Gor Mahìa and Sserunkuma in particular had other ideas. The KKL product pulled one back for K’ogalo in the 36th minute with Kevin Omondi providing the assist to end the first half 2-1 in favor of Mathare.

After recess, Logarusic’s side came out the hungrier side and eventually got the deserved equalizer through Dan Sserunkuma with 19 minutes left on the clock.

The draw moved Gor Mahia to 6th position on the log with 34 points from 21 games while go 8th on 27 points from 23 games. Sserunkuma’s two goals means he now has 8 league goals.
