Dennis Masinde Onyango was on bench as his side Sundowns suffered a 2-1 loss to nemesis Kaizer Chiefs at Soccercity stadium on Wednesday night.
The loss did drop them to tenth position on the log and will seek joy against opponents Moroka Swallows in the second leg of the MTN 8 semifinal on Sunday night at
the Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium.
It will be surreal dreams come true if Onyango starts ahead of Wayne Sandilands in goal Sundowns will be looking to overturn their away-goal deficit on on Sunday afternoon, 3pm CAT.
The first leg of the semifinal of between the two parties was filled with end-to-end football as the Dube Birds snuck in two early goals to stun the Brazilians. However their lead didn’t last long, as more goals flooded in with the final score producing three-a-piece.
The three away goals by Zeca Marques’ side has left them in the driving seat for reaching the final; should they win or play to a draw no more than 2-2 they will progress, but the coach believes the chapter is not quite finished yet.
“We know they will come all out to attack and score that early goal to unsettle us, but we are planning to finish it off. We have to win at home,” he told the club’s official website.
