Nine players will not be playing soccer at Maroons FC next season after being released by the club.
“We have released these players since we don’t expect to use them next season while were released on disciplinary issues. Most of them failed to break into the team last season and we saw it as imperative to let them go”, Maroons FC Coach Asaph Mwebaze told Kawowo sports.
These are Samuel Oguttu, Alex Shida, Innocent Ogunde, Ronald Mugabi, Edward Muyingo, Petit Warnock, Ronald Atugonza and Farouk Musinguzi. The club has decided not to extend their loan deal with Quddus Elasu who had joined from Proline Soccer Academy.
It should be noted that Quddus and Oguttu were key figures in the infamous player strike that hit Maroons FC last season to the extent of playing its league game against Police FC with 9 players.
These join other players that won’t feature for the club come next season that include George Abege and Martin Mpuga who transfered to Victoria University and midfielder Alex Tuliraba who crossed to KCC FC.
Maroons FC finished 10th in the Bell Super League last season and were losing semi-finalists to Bunamwaya SC in the Bell Uganda Cup
