Uganda vs Botswana

Botswana 0-0 Uganda (international friendly)

September 8th, Zambia Vs Uganda (1st leg 2013 AFCON Qualifier).

Uganda Cranes’ failure to win a game away from home continued on Sunday after the team could only manage a goal less draw against Botswana in an

international friendly.

The friendly game was meant to fine tune the team ahead of the first leg of the 2013 AFCON qualifier against African champions Zambia on September 8th in Ndola. In the absence of first choice custodians Denis Onyango and Abel Dhaira, Hamza Muwonge started between the posts before Ali Kimera also featured later.

Denis Guma started at right back since Bobby views him as a replacement for Masaba with Isaac Isinde and Edward Ssali starting at the heart of defence while Godfrey Walusimbi started at left back.

The day’s skipper Hassan Wasswa, Johnson Bagoole, Dan Wagaluka and Mike Sserumaga completed the quartet in midfield with striker Emma Okwi starting as a lone attacker upfront.

Despite missing several key players, the tactics Williamson employed are the ones he is expected to employ in Zambia with either Massa or Okwi leading the line supported by a five man midfield. The team returns Monday and will resume training immediately.

Uganda XI: Hamza Muwonge (GK), Denis Guma, Godfrey Walusimbi, Isaac Isinde, Edward Ssali, Johnson Bagoole, Hassan Wasswa, Steven Bengo, Mike Sserumaga, Dan Wagaluka and Emma Okwi.
