Team Uganda scored a total of 676 points to beat rivals Kenya (610) and favourites Zimbabwe enroute winning the FIM Africa Motocross Championships at the Busika Arena on Sunday.
Uganda would have probably done better had captain Arthur Blick Junior not suffered an injury. But the Zimbabweans dictated proceedings at the two day event. Sean Mitchell retained his MX1 crown after defeating Ugandans Maxim Van Pee and Asaf Natan.
Team Ivory Coast would have added more glamour but they arrived late and failed to have their machines for the tourney. Only P.Bigneron participated and scored 50 points in the MX1 category.
The event was sponsored by Total Uganda Limited, Farm and Engineering industries limited (FEIL), Pioneer Easy Bus, Safe Solutions, Silver Springs Hotel, Coca Cola, Mountain of the Moon Hotel and Resort Fort Portal.
