Soccer fans flocked the opening day of auditions of the SuperSport Tabira Endiba search for a Luganda soccer commentators at the MTN Arena at Lugogo stadium today.
By the time Kawowo Sports had reached the venue the stadium had received close to 4,000
entrants who are trying their soccer knowledge of becoming a flagship commentator for SuperSport.
“The turn for Kampala is overwhelming and by the end of the day we could possibly be having 5,000 entrants,” Ruben Luyombo,a judge for Tabira Endiba said. “Kampala’s numbers are much bigger than the one’s we saw in Masaka.”
Soccer fans had a choice of doing commentary of four games KCC versus Masaka LC,Express FC versus Hoima Busia,SC Villa Versus Police FC and URA FC versus Water FC. Fans however where not knowledable about players in the Uganda Super League and that might hamper their chances of being selected to advance to the next stage of the search.
The search will conclude on Saturday after which the progression to the second phase is in the hands of a panel of judges who review all the audition footage and scale it down to a top 16. The other judges are Capital Radio’s Aisha Nassanga, Monitor Columnist and SuperSport Commentor Mark Ssali and Bukedde TV sports presenter Innocent Tegusulwa.
The top 16 will then be trimmed to top eight, top four and ultimately the winner who will be announced on September 14.
Tabira Endiba is SuperSport’s second such search having successfully had one in Kenya called Bongo Boli which was won by Michael Were Odiambo Mukhusiah.
