SC VU 3-0 Maroons FC
Three first half goals from new boys Ibrahim Saddam Juma, Charles Tibingana and skipper Joseph Nestroy Kizito were enough for newly promoted side SC Victoria University to humble visiting Maroons FC in a pre-season warm up game played at Namboole on Saturday Morning.
Sadam converted from the spot after 30 minutes on the clock to give the university side a lead. Skipper Nestroy Kizito doubled the lead nine minutes later when coolly slotted the ball past Maroons FC custodian Malyamungu for his goal of his new club. SC VU’s dominance was on the stroke of half time rewarded with a third goal when Rwanda’s U-20 international winger Charles Tibingana who recently joined from Proline FC struck a beautiful free kick to make it 3-0 to ensure the game rested with the home side having a comfortable lead.
After recess, Maroons FC tried to come back into the game but resolute defending from Sam Ssimbwa’s side finished the game as winners.
This was a good result for the side that were without influential player Denis Guma who was on national duty with Cranes in Ndola Zambia for the 2013 Afcon qualifiers and also a great come back after the team’s 1-0 loss against SC Villa in their last friendly game.
On his strike, former SC Villa and Partizan Belgrade player who played as a left winger for the first 45 minutes said; “I am happy for the goal. Of course a first goal at a new club is always a great one and a good feeling. This one has come in a friendly but am looking forward to scoring one in the league”.
