Vipers SC Logo

The club recently changed name from Bunamwaya SC to Vipers FC but that will matter less when the season commences.

The club kick starts a new season with a foreign coach Ambrose “Duru” Chukuma and will without doubt go for the title come 2012/13 season. Having lost out on the league title by a point last season and finishing the Bell Uganda Cup as runners up, the phrase “so near yet so far” is the best description for their season.
Vipers is one club with talented players that have spent some time together something that will make the work of new coach a bit easy though the pressure is on him to deliver.

The loss of William Luwaga Kizito (their best player) last season will without doubt be felt and the team must find an able replacement as soon as possible. Added to

Luwaga are striker Tony Odur and defensive midfielder Hakim Ssekumba who left the club for KCC FC and Sofapaka FC respectively. The sale of Odur gives opportunity to forwards Edgar Luzige and Emmanuel Kalyowa who spent most of last season warming the bench at the club to show what they can offer. Patrick Ssembuya, a new signing from Victors FC is a good bet to fill the void left Ssenkumba.

However, with players like Godfrey Walusimbi, Nicholas Wadada, Edward Ssali and Ceaser Okhuti still at the club and rumours ripe that Uganda Cranes international midfielder Musa Mudde may sign for the club after being released by Simba SC of Tanzania, Vipers are capable of winning the league title they last won in 2009 under Edward Golola and Richard Wasswa (current assistant coaches).

One to Watch:
Ceaser Okhuti
The former Ediofe FC striker only played the second half of last season but his contribution was immense scoring a total of nine goals. Without Odur and Luwaga Kizito who contributed to the goals last season, the burden is on Okhuti to find the back of the net regularly and this also provides an opportunity for the striker to redeem himself.
