Portugal League Cup V. Setubal 1-1 Leixoes (Setubal qualifies to the next round on a 2-1 aggregate)
Former Vipers SC attacking midfielder William Luwagga Kizito was on target for his new club Leixoes FC in the Portuguese Taca da Liga (league cup) on Wednesday night but unfortunately saw his side bow out of the knock out competition. Leixoes started the game in search of at least two un replied goals to eliminate Vital Setubal after losing the first leg tie 0-1 but the hosts defended well and even got the opener of the match through Meyong in the 76th minute to make the situation more difficult for Kizito and company.
The Ugandan U-23 international however restored six minutes later with an equalizing goal that provided some hope for his side but the 90 minutes ended in a stalemate to ensure Leixoes journey in the competition was halted. The goal was Luwagga’s second for his club having netted for the side on his debut which they won 4-0. Going by the statistics, the midfielder appears ready to replicate his last season’s form with Vipers SC (then Bunamwaya SC) which saw him bag 9 goals and 15 assists. He was eventually voted the best midfielder of the Bell Uganda Cup season.
