The opportunity to play among the best lady golfers in the world has excited Uganda’s Flavia Namakula ahead of her debut at the Dubai Ladies Masters due in December in the United Arab Emirates.

“I am very excited about playing in this tournament. It’s a dream come true to play with some of the best lady golfers in the world,” an excited Namakula said over the phone. “My target is to make the cut at the tournament then see if I can land a major sponsor for me to turn professional.”

The UPDF golfer has received a special invitation to participate in this tournament that is being held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

It will be Namakula’s first professional golf tournament in her career and will face off with some of the best lady golfers in the world including the defending champion Alexis Thompson and Michelle Wie.

Arguably the most decorated amateur golfer in the ‘Pearl of Africa,’ Namakula has been handed special invitation by golf in Dubai as part of its oft-stated commitment to reach out to talented players who are in need of exposure to golf at the highest level.
