The wars in Ugandan football have not only left fans and club administrators divided but also players at giants SC Villa and Express FC confused. The two teams face divisions in administration with some registering the clubs in the FUFA sanctioned FUFA super league while others still pay allegience to USL citing the contracts and deed of adherence signed with sponsors.

Unlike other clubs which silently agreed to feature in both leagues to the extent of registering different players in each league, Villa and Express FC are divided at the top – a thing that has left players in the cold. For instance, on the opening day of the Bell Uganda Super League last week, only a few known players featured in the Express FC Kabenge led faction team in the 2-1 loss to Maroons FC. This led to the Bbale Mugera faction to claim that the team the played didn’t represent the Wankulukuku side asserting that it is the reason many faces were un familiar.

The same factions went ahead to tell the media that the real Express FC will be on show in the Fufa Super Cup versus URA FC. Come D-day, only a handful of known faces took to the stadium with the rest staying away. Notable among the absentees were skipper Willy Kavuma, Ismail Kazibwe, Bob Kasozi, Bonny Baingana (also didn’t appear in the side that played in the Bell USL) plus Godfrey Kavulu and Bright Aguma that featured against Maroons FC. A few players Kawowo Sports spoke to but preffered anonymity said that they’re in total confusion over who to follow. “As a player, am at cross roads”, said one of the players.

Like those at Express FC, the same thing is happening at SC Villa. On Saturday (yesterday) morning, a group of senior players led by skipper Isaac Kirabira were seen training at Villa Park where a break away faction from the Muwema led team trains. It’s alleged that these players want to commit their allegience to the Nkata trained side but worried how to go about it with their contracts signed under the Villa led Muwema that trains at Kisubi Seminary still running.

In fact it’s alleged that by the end of today (Sunday), they will have signed Fufa super league licences. However, these players (Muleme, Misi, Ndaula, Achema, Muganga, Luyima, Kirabira) still have one question, who pays us?
