Masaka LC begins life in the super league without sensational coach Kefa Kisala.

All eyes will be on new coach Baker Mbowa and his assistants James Kisekka and Sibo Peter after Coach Kefa Kisala left the club for a new challenge at Bidco FC. However, the latter two are not new in the game especially at Masaka LC as Kisekka has been assistant coach for the last couple of the seasons at the same club while Sibo Peter is a former player at the same club.

Kisala led the club to the semi-finals of the Bell Uganda Cup and also guided the club to 8th and will be greatly missed at the Masaka

based club.

It will be interesting to see how the two (Kisekka & Sibo) begin the long journey into their new careers without players like Mustapha Kasolo, Martin Kivumbi and long serving right fullback Dan Ssebuliba who followed Kisala out of the club.

However, the news that former midfielder Kamada “Ndiefi” Ssebagala has penned a deal at the club will be welcomed with great enthusiasm. He brings with him a lot of experience to the club and will a vital addition in the club’s pursuit of its target.

The club has maintained its policy of recruiting young players with potential by signing Herman Lubega, Geoffrey Kizimula from Katale FC, defender Hannington Galiwango from Banansi FC plus Abdul Kawuka and Boban Kagwa. None of the team’s signings has ever featured in the super league but team media officer Moses Bogere believes they will do well at Masaka LC.

The team’s main asset has been their fortress Masaka Recreation ground where they rarely lose a game and this decent record must be maintained if the club is to reach its target of finishing in the top ten.

Man to Watch: Ronald Lukungu

The club skipper was sensational last season and won a monthly accolade in recognition of his services for the club. He however faded as the season went into its closing stages but must be ready to keep pace with the league.
