Charity TF 46/10 Wanderers 16/3 [D/L]
Charity TF 93/5 Wanderers 94/2
Wanderers moved from fourth to third slot with 16 points on T20 Mehta Premier League log following their triumph over Charity Trust Fund on Saturday. They suffered a two-run loss but quickly rose to the occasion to defeat the titleholders by eight wickets in the afternoon.
Charity set 93 runs for five after batting the allotted 20 overs. Captain Flavia Laker hit 30 off 46 deliveries while Barbara Mukankusi stroked 17 off 22 balls. Wanderers’ bowlers Mackenzie Ayato (2/27), Rebecca Akwenyu (1/7), Carol Namugenyi (1/21) and Kevin Apio (1/15) shared five wickets.
In the second innings, Apio returned with 38 run-a-ball and skipper Mary Nanderenga scored 26 off 31 to lift the side to 94 runs for just a two wicket loss.
“It is quite a relief and people should not write us off,” Nanderenga said after picking the vital win.
Charity had won the first game by Duckworth Method (D/L). They were all out for 46 in 15 overs but due to unavoidable soggy outfield, Wanderers’ innings prematurely ended when they were 16 for three, hence losing by two runs.
