Twenty foreign golfers are to spice up the Uganda Amateur Ladies Open championship set to tee off tomorrow at the splendid par 72 Kitante Golf Course.
The three day tournament starts tomorrow with for the first time a Pro-Am event with spectators trying out a longest drive at the 18 hole.
“It’s going to be one of the most exciting events we have had on our calendar,” Jasper Kamukama, the
Uganda Ladies Golf Union president said at the launch of the tournament this morning at the Uganda Golf Club.Lady golfers from Zambia,Zimbabwe,Tanzania,Kenya,Rwanda,Burundi and the hosts Uganda will be vying to biggest prize in ladies golf in the country. Last year’s winner Flavia Namakula will be eyeing her third crown on the trot,but will have to stave off challenges from a group teenagers that include 14 year old Naomi Nafula from Kenya.
Other junior golfers that will be participating include 15 year old Divanshi Naik from Zambia, she will be part of the eight golfers coming from that nation.
Other lady golfers expected at this tournament include Kenya’s Mary Karano,Jane Njoroge. Loice Chingona from Zimbabwe, Tanzania will have Hawa Wanyenche,Ayne Magombe,Iddy Madina,Angel Eaton and four other lady golfers. Rwanda will enter two while Burundi is yet to confirm its entry.
