
Twenty two year old Angel Eaton from Tanzania took a one over par 73 gross score lead on the opening round of the prestigious Uganda Amateur Ladies Open golf championship on a wet par 72 Kitante golf course this morning
Defending champion Flavia Namakula shot four over par 76 gross to end her opening round in third position going into tomorrow’s action. Tanzania’s Hawa Wanyeche was second after an opening round of three over par 75 gross.
“I played some really awesome golf today and everything was just going right for me on the course,” a joyful Eaton said. “Am looking forward too tomorrow’s action am just going to go their and enjoy myself.”
Tanzania’s dominance on the opening day continued with Iddy Madina and Ayne Magombe completing the top five with scores of 4 under par 76 gross and 6 over par 78 respectively for the two lady golfers.
“I didn’t play well today and I hope too do better in tomorrow’s action,” Namakula said. “I within site and I will just play my game tomorrow looking for better scores.”
Tomorrow’s action will see the subsidiary action swinging into action with a total of around two golfers taking place.
