kickboxing is a first rising sports in Uganda and on Friday once again the lovers of the sport will have a chance to follow Ronald Mugula and Hungarian Andras Nagy fight for the vacant World title fight live on UBC. It will be Mugula’s first time to fight locally in a long time, but its Nagy’s second return to Kampala and second on TV.
Moses Golola opened doors last year when fans all over the country glued on their TVs as Nagy took him to school. The second was early this year when the same Golola hosted Szamboki Matte for a world title figh, though it also embarrassingly ended in favor of the visitor.
Local rivals Titus Tugume and Malik Kaliisa also had their national title fight rematch live for the locals who couldn’t make it to Lugogo. Being on TV will means that many low-income earners who would have loved to watch the fight can do so in the comfort of the homes as they cheer on the home boy.
If Mugula wins today, it will be the first time a Ugandan has won a world kickboxing title fight.
